Love spells, it would seem, are universal and enduring in their ability to fulfil a basic human desire, a need to be loved – and to love. If we looked, we would probably find examples of love spells, in their various guises – to attract love, to break up love, to win a lover back, to revenge love, to attract a lover for sex, to improve sex, and to improve your own appearance or glamour to help attract a lover. The latter is considered by practitioners within the magical revival to usually be the best, though the boundaries when it comes to the ethics of love magic can become rather blurred.
In the unique collection of spells and charms using the biblical Psalms, by the authors David Rankine and Paul Harry Barron and published as “The Book of Gold” in 2010 there are a variety of spells which focus around the subject of love. In this example, using Psalm 23, the spell claims that it will allow someone seeking love to appear more graceful. We have reproduced the spell below as an image (due to the need for the sigils being used) . It is typical of the type of spells found in The Book of Gold, each of which is carefully commented on by the authors, providing a lot of additional information, history and context for each.

This spell is provided here purely for those readers who are curious about the magical practices of years gone by, the Book of Gold is believed to date to the 17th century, though the spells contained in it can be shown to be at least a century older, and might be older still. Clearly if you chose to recite Psalm 23 in Latin and perform this spell, you do so at your own peril, it is provided here as a historical illustration only.
